Default New to the ION

I was recently in need of a new car. My 1996 Cavalier finally gave up the goat.

I orginally wanted to replace it with a Chevy Cobalt, but seen a Saturn ION on the lot that caught my eye. The Quad Coupe had the look of a 2 door and the ease of a 4. After some talk with the sales rep I find it has the same 2.2l as the cobalt. and beside the arrangement the interiors were identical.

After much searching I came across a 2004 Ion 3 Quad Coupe VTi. The funny thing is the sales man had it listed as a Ion 2 and had it priced as an ION 2. Once I brought it home i looked in the glove box and the originall window sticker was in it and it said it was a 3 with the Vti.

It had more miles on it then what I was looking for but it had a ton of extras. sunroof, cruise, tilt, power everything, mp3 cd, 16" wheels, spoiler.
I got it for $9000 which I do not think was a bad price even with the 57K on it. KBB says retail on it is $11,885 and private party at $9,100.

Of course now that I own it I read tons of negative posts about it. So what do you guys as saturn people think? did I make a good purchase? or am I destined for tons of repairs?

Welcome to the Board.

The VTI transmission is the weak link that will cost you the most money if it breaks down. Check your maintenance schedule and see what it is due for. If the VTI services are due then do them. Check with your local Saturn service department and see what they come up with for servicing. If the VTI has missed any then get them done.
The VTI does better in the ION than the VUE but on the whole safe than sorry.
The other weak point is the ignition switch. If you life in a cold climate it may give you no start problems in the winter.
