Default So i ordered Pace setter armor coated headers.

I know ive seen them on a few ions here. I was just wonder whats the best way to go about the install. to take the stock off and piece it together and get it all welded and bring it back home and install? or to bring the header to local shop and have them install. or run open header to the shop and have them weld the cat on.

Thanks.

if you want to save money, and have decent tools, and don't mind turning a few wrenches, drive over there with an open downpipe. also keep in mind you're going to want to re-use the flex joint there too and all.

I luckily have a welder at my disposal now so I can do mine myself after measuring some things.

glad to hear it's the coated one. I still am weary of their durability though. I went with an OEM LSJ manifold which I got for nearly free, and it's worked great so far. in the process of removing the cat and such now and adding a few provisions to my exhaust bypass. hope it works out well for you though.

what else is on this car? you might want to look into tuning this now, would help quite a bit.

I removed my manifold, downpipe, cat..and all that crap. (if you do this yourself, on jackstands in your driveway, the manifold, downpipe and all WILL fit through the engine bay if you can't drop it from underneath.) Bolted my pacesetter header (not armor coated ) on and drove to the exhaust shop the next morning. 30 mins later they had welded a new downpipe and my magnaflow high flow cat on for @ $25

Yeah i ended up running open down pipe there and had them weld on a new cat. did anyone else have any trouble with the gasket and upper part of the header where it bolts on? My block has this little machined lip on it and it wasnt letting the header fit snug so i had to machine down the rounded tops a tiny bit. There is a deffinate gain in power great buy for anyone who is looking for headers.

Quick question. When im driving now and my throttles about quater way there is a ticking sound. it doesnt happen when im revving i dont think only when a bout quater throttle on the road. is that a normal noise its hard to explain.

and schizzo Ive got the header, thermal cat back, and aem cold air. Looking into a revco throttle body or finding a used one and machining it out.

Thanks for the quicker replies.

i haven't had any problems. You'll notice that your exhaust will stink for about a week or so. Other than that, nothing.

my car used to make a whistling sound about the same area, it sounded like a turbo spooling up.
