I heard the word on this a while back, and i got real excited thinking about a hybrid vue. but I haven't seen anything else on the topic lately and would like to know if anyone has any insight to the subject?

Rumor of 2007 on redesign.

I will not consider it. Why should I pay about 5k more for a VUE so it will have the power of a 4 banger and batteries that will most likely be not covered under warrenty All this just to be a hippy and see a 10% increase in MPG and see another environmental problem of getting rid of the batteries happen.

Put a Diesle engine in the VUE already. And, give the option to run BioDeisle fuel. The engine will last longer, better MPG and you not smell bad coming down the road.

Too bad that will never happen. Saturn is owned be GM and GM would never think about harming it's whoreish relationship with its oil company friends.

From my understanding, the system is a mild hybrid, so it shouldn't require very many batteries. "getting rid" of the batteries shouldn't be a problem - probably any parts store or dealership will take them and ship them to be recycled. I would expect the batteries to be covered by warranty for a period of time. A 10% increase in efficiency should more than pay for itself over the life of the vehicle (unless you're someone who trades off vehicles every 2 years), and potentially add to resale value.

Diesel would be cool, but you have to admit that it's still questionable how well accepted it would be. Americans just aren't fans of diesel unless it's in big trucks.

I don't know much about the relationship between GM and the oil companies, but with the amount of money GM is pouring into fuel cells, the relationship must not be a totally controlling one...
