Default Picked up a 2004 V6

Hi all.

I just bought a 2004 Vue V6. I traded my 2004 Ion in for it. The Ion was fun to drive but just not practical to carry stuff.

With the 28 MPG for a 250 horsepower SUV, I couldn't see passing this up.

What I'm wondering is, where are all of the cool suspension mods for this vehicle? I've owned Camaro Z28's and I was always able to upgrade the sway bars, torque arm, panhard rod, etc.

How can I buy stiffer sway bars for the Vue so it can stay flat in the corners? The whole reason these things flip so easy to begin with is because they sway too much. My z28 used to handle horrible from the factory until I upgraded everything with stong tubular steel. I want to do the same for the Vue. Plus I want to see about getting it upgraded to have over 300 horsepower. If they can manage to squeeze out 250 on a bone stock motor, I'm sure there should be not too much to do to get a measley 50 extra horsepower out of it.

I previously owned a 2001 Hyundai Sante Fe V6 AWD and a 2003 Kia Sorento. I thought the Kia was neat. I really like the Vue. This thing feels more like it has the same kind of power of an older Mustang GT 5.0. Those old GT 5.0's used to do 0-60 in 6 to 6.5 seconds. It's amazing how a big SUV with only a V6 is capable of doing 0-60 in just 1/2 second slower.

I am KICKING MYSELF for not getting the AWD. The FWD roasts the tires too easily. But the fuel economy would go down and the weight would increase.

I used to drive my Santa Fe AWD in the snow in Chicago and IT ROCKED! That thing was like driving a snowmobile around during bad snow. I loved it. If I ever move back to Chicago, I will really be hurting for not having AWD.

Default Ebay

I've been looking at Ebay, even before I bought the Vue. I've been able to find anything that I want. Everything I see for sale is cosmetic stuff. I don't care about looks. I want PERFORMANCE. That's what I'm not finding.

They have a turbo kit for an Ion. Where do you get these kind of toys for a 250 HP Vue?!?! This vehicle has a ton of potential!

z28com, your username caught my attention. Do you still have a Z at all? I bought a new Vue this past summer, but got the 4 cyl and just dropped an LS6 in my Z28 and I love it!

Check out the link in my sig for pics of the swap if you're interested.

I actually plan to just do cosmetic mods to my Vue, I don't think my 4 cyl will ever feel fast

Default z28

I use that handle because I used to own the web site www.z28.com until 2002. Another guy took it over and he turned it into a message board.

I had my 2001 Z28 for just about a year and had to get rid of it when I was unemployed for such a long period of time. I would have LOVED to drop an LS6 engine in it. That would have been pefect. In today's economy, most all of the $60-80k jobs that I was able to get have now evaporated. So my chances of ever getting one of those cars and modifying it like I did before are not next to nothing.
