| Sounds a little crazy????? PLEASE HELP!!! I was driving my Vue about a month ago and satrted to hear a noise coming from the front??? I mean it has gotten a lil ....nevermind, A LOT louder!!! I will be driving down the road and before i get into 2nd gear.....it sounds like I have Super Swamper mud grip tires on the thing! LOL! I have rode down the road with the window down and can't hear it outside of the vehicle??? but with the windows rolled up and the radio off, it is a very thick sound and constant??? I thought it was the tires, so I bought new ones! Then it started again! I just know it sounds like I have 4 wheel drive tires on it?? Does anyone have an Idea what it could be??? It doesn't vibrate! just alot of noise from what sounds like in the engine compartment! This is a 2003 2.2 Ecotec motor with a 5 speed. AND ALSO!!! my "Service engine soon" light comes on and goes off constantly! My best friend said it was the Gas cap???????? does this need to be replaced to???????? PLEASE HELP!!!! |

| took the Vue over to the parts store today????? well, we hooked up a OB2 code reader up and it read "err" for error? So they was like...lets let it run to see if it will pick up? we returned and it said the same on retest? So he asked me if I done any mods??? I was like Nope....just a flowmaster muffler and a K&N drop in filter? So, he said that the muffler would set off a sensor????? because of the stuff circulating? says once it comes up 5 times that it will automatically erase it out?????He says that GM computers do this? Anyway? I will just drive it till she goes out of business? As for the "super swamper tire sound".......how is another way you can tell if the wheel bearing have or or going out??????? Thanks for the help from the Super saturn people here @ "spot"! You all ROCK! |

| a new muffler wouldn't really cause an error. Maybe the guy really doesn't know what he is doing.
The code won't erase after it comes up 5 times.
As for the wheel bearings, I really don't think it would be causing the noise. Its either the tires are over or under inflated or its the road.

| WOW! I found out thursday that the noise......is the front left wheel bearing!! man that sucks! I took it to 2 different places! The first guy drove it without me telling him anything @ first! then he was like......the wheel bearing is going out on this thing!!!! He was shocked when he seen 62,000 miles on it!! He was like these wheel bearing that they use on these are "nonservicable" and it was cheaper for Saturn to make AND....it would cost the consumer more! so it was a simple choice for them to keep these on?? Anyway, the second opinion came and he said to get it fixed PRONTO before the wheel comes flying off and I roll it nine times doing 65 down the interstate! From what I hear.....Saturn is having problems out of the wheel bearing wearing out before they should????? I asked the guys that pointed it out, what would cause them to prematurley go out like this??? They were like......its just cheap quick parts on the assembly line or who ever had it.....was VERY hard on it!! LOL!!!! I laughed because I have NEVER "got on it" or squeeled a tire before!!! LOL! So it must be a cheap set of wheel bearing!????? |

| This really puts a damper on the way I feel about the "new line" of saturns? I have always had the "Sc's" and NEVER had problems out of them!!! and yes......just because a wheel bearing is going out??? you bet! I have always bragged on how I would get 140,000 miles before ANYTHING happened! it was a barron slipped in the alternator and it was still doin all it could to charge! the only thing was that made me notice something wrong was the ticking from the alternator and the headlights were dimming when I changed from low to high. But yes my faith in the "new line" ...Vues, Ions (L-series for sure!!!) I told my mom how GREAT these cars were....so she bought a L-300. @ 68,000 miles the pulley broke off goin down the interstae and left her stranded! I was in shock! I realize ALL dealers have some bad cars? but we both have had bad "new line" saturns ....OH! lets not forget my aunt who bought a 2003 AWD v6......30,000 miles and the tranny dipped on her! rediculous! Anyway............not starting a rutcus......just hated the bad news I got! I always wanted to keep the reputation that I preach about ALL my Saturns, that they are pretty much drive for 140,000 miles before anything goes wrong???? I know I'm no the only Vue owner that feels this way??? but I realize this is kinks in these cars just like ALL the 1992-1994 saturn? thanks for all your help guys and all the info? I hope that someone on here can give any info on how much "mucho" the bearings will run me??? I heard around 400 dollars? is that just "stealership" talk??? |

| That is pretty quick for it to go out, but like you said, it can happen with any brand occasionally. I've not heard of these being a problem item at all...
As for the cost, I'm assuming you don't have an extended warranty or anything (always good to consider that first...). If you or your family aren't any do it yourself'ers, then you'll just have to call up the dealer and/or another mechanic and see what they'll charge. |

| Hey ALL! I have some good news?? Today I took my VUE to the, NA...a doctor! I called Saturn of Chattanooga and they want $250 for the "hub assembley" and another $200 for labor!! My best friend runs a "Lexus repair shop" that is really nice and had been with Lexus since 1994 and his Techs have been mechanics for over 30 years apiece! So I called them up and asked if they could get them to help me out since I NEEDED IT! LOL! So, they got the drivers side Hub Assembley for $110 @ his discount!!!!!!! and his Techs are hooking me up for just $89 !!!!!!!!!! WOW! Did I hit it lucky or what?!! The funny thing is???? The 2 different Saturn dealerships I live around.......charged 2 different prices for everything??? Why is this??? Does it have to do with location or population?? It was like $100 price different! Anyway....thanks for all the info and help you guys hooked me up with! |
