Well here is my story
The car wasn't driven in about 1 year.
Got back from university and got it insured took it to the mechanic, got ALL 4 brakes (pads and drums in back) changed. Got oil changed. Tried to fix radiator leak, didnt work (mechanic tried 'squeezing' radiator edge together). Also my Service Engine Soon light just started coming on recently. Another thing, it shifts jerky from 1st to second gear, gonna try and get the trans flushed this monday and see what happens.

Anyways been filling the radiator every morning, before I drive. Anyways got a couple of questions.

1. Would a liquid radiator leak sealer be good to use? Or should I buy and install a new radiator?
2. Would the service engine soon light come on if the radiator is leaking? Could it be something else?
3. Is it possible to put cavalier seats in here?
4. Also forgot to add there is a burning smell front time to time, what could it be?


Also it has 160,000 km's on it, SOHC engine (124hp), has been VERY VERY reliable, even more so than our 2003 Mitsubishi Galant.

Lastly all the inside panels are out, (being spray painted blue, and the side cloth areas are being covered with white vinel).

Also forgot to mention the service engine soon light isnt constantly on, but flickers on once in a while, while driving,

That stuff could work if it's a tiny leak, but if your radiator is splitting, then it probably won't do. The leak sealer is something that makes many of use cringe, because it's not really fixing the problem right. If it doesn't work, then you've got goop in your coolant system that may not be nice. If it does work, it might be fine to make your car last a while longer (how long, who knows...)

Anything is possible with enough time/money/skill. Almost definate that the sliders don't line up, which means custom work would have to be done. Like to weld?

*BUZZ* wrong. Correct HP, but you have a DOHC, not an SOHC.


Sorry if that sounded harsh, just addressing the issues. We really are quite friendly on here, but you may also be corrected if you seem to have aquired, um, innacurrate information.

flashing light means emissions code. 02 sensor, could be, but i'd bet it's the EGR valve. Would cause bucking, lack of power, and few other things. Or could be a one time incident. reset by disconnecting battery for few seconds. see if comes back. to check code make sure vehicle is off. take paper clip jump top upper right terminals of plug under steering wheel. turn key to just bout start postion for accessory. wait and watch light flash. it will flash system diagnostic code which is code 12. should do that 3 times. than your problem code will flash 3 times, followed by any other codes. it will finish the diagnostic w/ a code 12 again 3 times. give us the code we'll help u out. code 32 is for egr fault. would be 3 flashes pause 2 flashes.
