| Any SW2 Owners out there? I recently purchased a used SW2, with 135000 Miles on it, I drove it 3000 miles (Highway) home, and I felt the engine loosen up after an impromptu oil and filter change.
I've been having a minor issue with what I think is the exahust system, in that I hear a rattle especially when the engine is cold.
I wonder how many of you have had issues with the exhaust gasket?

| Yeah I have a wagon, SW1 though for now. I had a rattle earlier but it was just a lose piece of heat shield above the exhaust. Any chance it's the same problem?

| check your rear exhaust hanger, or spray soapy water on the manifold where it meets up with the head, or where the manifold attaches to the downpipe

| Heat shield It's the Rear Exhaust heat shield all right. It must've taken it's last hit, when I was driving it to Kennedy Airport NY. The local Gov't. Inspection center found it resting comfortably on the exhaust pipe, and it was repaired by drilling out the rivets, and screwing the shield back on with washers in place.
They also found that my rear brake cyliners were leaking, and that too was resolved.
Drives like a charm, I'll still be looking into the exhuast gasket @ the manifold , and the catalytic converter.

| what year is the SW2 you have?
i kinda made mine a bit of a sleeper, the only visual that is readily apparent is the Eibach lowering kit and the 100w fog light addon (in the factory holes)
i have done about everything one can do for added HP without taking the engine out and rebuilding completely....
276,000, all orginal including the clutch with the exception of these items:
starter (replaced meself)
alternator (dealer replacement, friggin expensive)
radiator (replaced meself)
throttle body (replaced meself)
precat (dealer, raped me)
and with the exception of regular maintence, brakes and hoses, doen my self.
actually, it hasn't been that bad of a car, all things considered.
runs stronger now than when new......with a little extra smoke
baldy

| I purchased a 1997 Saturn SW2 about 8 months ago with 67,000 miles on it, I kept hearing this rattle and it was driving me nuts. It appeared when the engine was cold. Well lo and behold I came to find out my radio antenna was loose, gave it a quick turn, end of problem |

I have alot of speed bumps in my neighborhood and id get the antenna rattle everytime i hit one. I was like what the **** is going on, it was like a week after i bought my car i was like theres no way this is happening! But it was just the antenna. Now i have more rattles, but probably because kicker comps had a part in it. |
