it's very doable.

I'm doing it right now with a '99 SC2. It's best if you can find most/all of the parts you'll need in one place. Just saves time & is usually cheaper.

easy swap if you have an engine crane and some understanding of automobile mechanics and you are ORGANIZED. No more than a weekend if this is so. As for cost, if you go to the junk yard probably no more than 300 or 400 dollars. Mine was free cause I have my old car just sitting in the yard with a hydrolocked motor, so ask Jon how much he paid.

I paid a little under $300 for everything needed except the flywheel from an individual seller who posted on here in the sale section. I spent $100 on a welded differential (the weak point of the saturn tranny) after the shop screwed mine up, and I'll have to spend $70 on a flywheel. Should be under $500 overall. My swap is taking forever because I'm lazy, plus it took a while to get the differential. Hoping to swap the tranny itself this weekend, and maybe finish putting in the clutch pedal & shifter, as well. If my nasty dry-rotted tires will hold pressure enough, maybe I'll test drive it around the neighborhood this weekend. Then again, I've thought that before, and then something comes up & I don't have the time.

That's the luxury of having an attached garage & understanding wife, though - I can tinker whenever I want, and not tinker whenever I don't want. I have a daily driver and so does my wife, so we're not hurting for a lack of this car working.
