Default Computer reset after O2 sensor

I recently had to replace my O2 sensor on my '97 SL1. Just bought it and had to get the emissions test here in WA.
After I replaced the sensors (I decided both since this has 140k mi) I cleared the computer by disconnecting the battery for 60 seconds as I've read in some of the posts. The "service engine soon" light didn't come back on and I thought all was well.
I took the car back to the emissions shop and they hooked up and told me the car wouldn't allow them to do testing. The lady I talked to said she had seen this before and maybe there was some cycles or something that had to be done before the computer would allow to be tested.
Any help would be appreciated.

My best guess is to drive it around a little so it can reprogram itself to the new part & such. I dont' know that for sure, though.

I don't have an Autozone close so I just disconnected the battery for about a minute. Seemed to do the job but now I'm not sure why they can't do the emissions testing.

what tests are they doing this time around?

Gas cap pressure check?
OBD check?
Exhaust Check?

I would go pick up a code reader and make sure the codes aren't still there. It could be still sitting there but just not activating the SES light

They have done the gas cap and OBD check. Haven't gotten past that though. They keep getting stuck on the OBD check.

yea if your stuck on that one, its because the code is still on the computer but doesnt activate the SES light.

The only other option would be is find someone with an OBD reader or get one yourself (it will be useful in the future) and scan the code and post here and let us know and we can help you correct the problem and get rid of the code

I'll see what I can do. Maybe one of my other parts shops will do this for me.
Thanks
