Default Gears engauging very Rough...

Hell everyone.

I've got a 2001 SL1 1.9L Auto for a DD and it's got about 114k+

about a year ago I had the valve body replaced due to rough shifting and mainly becuase i knew crap about cars back then. Well now i have the same issue and the VB has had only about 10k put on it.

What it does.

From Park to Reverse there is a "slam" and the engine torques hard to the front of the car. And then i place it in drive and it does the same only the engine moves back to a normal sitting place. Driving along it's strong and i've had no powerloss to speak of, but every single gear causes a lurching and lound thump/clunk noise. Also it does it better the warmer the car gets... but never goes away.

HISTORY

I've already check the engine mounts and replaced one that was "worn" but not broken or very bad, and like i said b4 had the VB changed out about 10k miles ago.

Hints idea's? Things I can check for? At this point i don't want to take it in to have someone work on it for me. And i have access to tools to hack it up and look at anything else that could be moving.

THings i was thinking about were a Busted Trany Mount /Strut..
Or somthing with the Torque Converter.. but i don't know how to check for these things.

Thanks

Nomad

Here for the reverse slam cure

I have posted this proceedure to cure the reverse "slam" in other ( to remain unmentioned) Saturn forums. This sounds weird, but has worked in nearly every Saturn I have tried it on. Don't go cheap on the fluid or filter...and follow the steps EXACTLY.
1. Change transaxle fluid (Non-synthetic) and filter (Saturn part ONLY please)
2. Add your choice of transaxle fluid additive (IE: Transmedic- Personal preferance Prolong transmission and gearbox additive)
3.Back the car up against a SOLID nondamaging object or wall and/or FIRMLY set the parking brake and chock the wheels.
4. Start the car and place it in reverse and LEAVE it there RUNNING in REVERSE for approx. 30 minutes.

THis will NOT harm the transaxle. What it does is simulate driving the car in reverse for like 25 miles..using the clean transaxle fluid and additive to clean and flushout the reverse gear switching valve and valve body passeges. I know it sounds/seems weird but it works like a charm 95% of the time.

ya I did that about 2 days ago and still having the problem, i don't think the lines are trashed up, because it does it in every gear.

How exactly would that work, not being an ass, but the only way this may work would be to get the tires off the ground, otherwise all youve done is torque up the gears, unless there moving there would be no point.

don't need the tires turning to have that happen. The fluid does go through the valve body that way in reverse regardless if you move. The torque converter is what stalls it out. To much to explain. Anyways though, your problem sounds like the valve body again. You sure you did it right 10,000 ago? Can't really be much else. Look into a used tranny. let us know what u find. good luck..
