Default Hard to shift 5spd????

We have a '96 SL1 5spd (MP2 trans I think). Trans is hard to shift in most gears. Stopped or moving---still hard. Worse when it gets hot. Trans was just replaced. Had 87,000 on it. Seems to be getting harder to shift.
Did a search on this and came up with motor mounts and/or the shift tower being the problem.
Clutch/engine shutters when releasing clutch sometimes.
Will take it back to the mechanic, but would appreciate some info first.
Ideas? Thanks again.

Problem solved.
Plastic clips in the shift cable crapped out.
More details posted in the Tech. section here.
