now when she gets at a stop light. the car revs up to 3 ?

Do the RPM's eventually drop to normal? Is it only doing it when the engine is warm? Has the PCM coolant temp sensor and connector ever been replaced? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

sometimes they drop to around 1. the engine temp usually sticks around the same temp on the cooler side or the middle.

now she smells a "burning" smell

I'm waiting to hear from her about if she has had low coolant recently or not

yes she has been replacing coolant "slowly"
i wonder if the burning smell is coolant ?
