| IAT sensor just installed a WAI on my car but the question i have is my IAT sensor isnt long enough to reach the hole on the intake tube, do i need to make it reach or can i just leave it hanging in the engine compartment? |

| some people just leave it hang, others extend the wires. Generally it causes subtle changes in fuel usage, so it does make a difference, but not a big one. Personally, I'd extend it, but you don't have to. |

| When i left my iat out of the intake piping and put it reight behind the headlight i felt a little bit a power increase but DAMN i was running so rich that when i hit WOT my car i left a big black trail of smoke behind me, and could smell the fuel coming out my exhaust at idle. So i wont do that anymore.

| I used some spare wire i found around the house that was around the same size as the factory wiring and spliced the wires together then used some solder and shrink wrap. Crimp connectors are good for things that wont be exposed to moisture, and since its in a engine bay which is exposed to the open air i wouldnt use those. Plus after time the crimp losses is strength and will weaken and sometimes the wire will come back out.

| yea but is the wire close to the same size as the iat wiring? Because the difference in wire diameters have differences in resistance and the iat may not send the correct voltage signal back to the pcm. This could affect fuel mpg.
