Default Just got it-should I.................

I just got a 95' SW2. Question is, should I start doing mods or leave it alone. Bad thing is it's an auto and I have another project. Oh, and not a lot of $! I'll probably put a short ram and newer Oem Ion rims on it either way.

i personally love the sw2. it would make a really cool dd if you do some modding to it. first i would change it to the mp3 tranny, and then start from there. either way, itll be different than most

Forgive my ignorance but what is the "mp3 tranny"?

mp2 and mp3 are both manual trans which are not hard to switch...the mp2 would be in the Sx1 and the mp3 would be in the Sx2s but you never know nowadays thats just the stockers

If it's a daily driver, I'd say just make it look good and take good care of it - it'll take good care of you.

I'm back and WOOPPPS, it's a 94'. Man, this thing shifts smooth for having 141k- I can barely feel the trans shift. I'll post some before (dirty) and after (clean) pics soon. One problem- it whines/squeeks bad when I first start it up and then it goes away after the engine warms up. Is it the water pump or the serpintine belt?

either your belt tensior or your idler pully those seem to go with these cars.

Glad to hear it's (mostly) treating you well. I'd check the belt first, and if it's in good shape, start narrowing it down to which pulley. Could be an idler or tensioner, like SouthPole mentioned, though it's generally not a good idea to just start replacing things at random hoping to fix it. Try to narrow it down, and post up in the technical section - ssicarman checks it regularly, and is a saturn tech.
