Default lowering a car

ok...when lowering a saturn (97 sc2), how low is too low? what i mean is how low could i drop the car with out messing up balljoints or drive shaft joints? i wanted to do a 2 inch drop but cant find 2 inch springs. saturn motorsports has the sprint extreme drop with a 2.5 inch drop. would those and KYB struts be ok? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

I dropped mine 2 1/4" and I wouldn't have gone for anything less. It will be farely low though with a bodykit. I have the drop and 18" rims and I ended up not even needing a camber kit. I think you'll be disssapointed with anything under 2".

not to jack this thread, but along the same lines here. i have coilovers now and those have to go before i put the car back on the raod in the spring. so anyone with 2.5" drop springs, how is the ride compared to stock? also would it be a great deal better with just 2" drop springs if any?

As I said, I'm in between and I like it. Actually, I was a little disapointed it didn't drop more. If you'd like you can take a look at my cardomain and see for yourself.

get the 1.8" drop progress springs thru saturnmotorsports. it settles lower than 1.8"..........somewhere around 2.3" or 2.5". the ride will suck a little. you gotta be careful and look out for pot holes or bumps when you're driving. eibach springs only drop 1.3" in the front and 1.2" in the rear and the ride is great.

To answer your question any drop under 1.75 inchs will put a great deal of more wear and tear on your CV joints. Many people do exceed this as you can seeI have H&R sports and they lowered the car around an inch and a half which isnt slammed and it performs amazing. It all depends if you want slammed or handling.
