Default question

Ok I told some of my friends recently that my car (its an auto) can hit redline before it shifts. they all thought this was wierd and never heard of it before. their autos don't make it that far supposedly. I can only do this of course when i floor the gas, but my question is that if that it just something saturns can do or is it just something with my car.

My Blazer would go through the redline and shift hard when I floored it. My Saturn has a five-speed, it shifts whenever I want it to.

A lot of cars don't go up to redline with an auto - they're programmed more for efficiency & smoothness than acceleration. Saturns let you goose it all the way.

I used to be able to take my neon to the redline when I was on the gas.

Crappy limiters. I'm just glad I don't have that on my car. Much cooler not to. Very odd they thought redlining in an auto was weird. I thought it was normal.
