Default So high that I can kiss the sky! (Idling high that is.)

Can someone tell me why my 1992 SL2 is idling at about 1100 RPM's? Would replacing the plugs automatically fix that? The repair manual tells me the idle is preset at the factory and shouldn't need adjusting. Can someone clear this up please? My car has an auto tranny and the car is idling so high it will shift to second gear without me even touching the accelerator. I just recently bought the car and have many questions, but I'll stick to one question at a time.

i would clean out the throttle body

it could be dirty which can make it stick and idle high

I'm sure it's either 1.vaccum line undone 2.Intake gasket leak(could be other gaskets but it sounds more like that one than anything)
3. injector o-ring blown
Those are the main leaks for a vaccum lost, causing high idle. I know from experiece, go ahead and go get a new gasket. It will cost no more than $20 and 2-4 hours of work depending on skill level.

sounds, like a vaccume leak, try this, buy a can of carb clean, and "with the car running" spray it along the back of the intake, where it bolts up to the head, if it starts to stall, it needs a intake gasket...also make sure your pcv, valve isnot sticking, and all the vaccume hoses are not cracked or pinched...

My car was doing the exact opposite............It was idling to low to where the car almost fell dead. I bought some Carb and Throttle Body cleanser spray and that was the end of that.

Sure did...........dont know how. When I did it...........I noticed there was alot of build up around the throttle plate. That spray did the trick.

The throttle body cleaner worked. My car is idling at a closer to normal RPM. Thanks for the tip.
