I agree with Ssicarman. Change your ECTS. You did not post your vitals so exact details are limited. the sensor is here :
YouTube - 96-up saturn coolent temp sensor location

The ECTS is VITAL to fuel management along with other systems. If your car is pre 2001, it is resin tipped. The coolant eats through the resin sending false data to the PCM. The new ones are brass tipped and will last the life of the car. Usually the ECTS does NOT set of a code speciif to itself if it sets of a code at all.

Also agreeing with Ssicarman, your CPS is fine. It either works or doesnt work. no gray area. Yours is fine

You may also want to clean your EGR. a good cleaning never hurt.

NGK Cooper plugs? NO? Get them. Yes? make sure they are gapped at .040 or less

Where is EGR at? I got the NGK, then threw the code. Replaced them with Champion Platinum and no more code. Runs good.

Dont worry. Your car wont start one day and that will be bc of the platinum plugs.

EGR is located on the drivers side of the engine. its right next to the hoist hook. its cylindrical in shape and has 2 bolts holding it on

Cool. I will look for it. Thanks. As for the plugs, I am old school (37yrs old) and I used to run those in all my cars without issue(s). Sold my uncle the 1991 Saturn SL1 and used Bosch +4 in that (back in the 90's). No issues while I had it and he replaced at 30k and said they were just due, looked good. Thanks for the warning though and input.

I cleaned the EGR valve. Dirty, but it worked. The "bolt" moved up and down. So, I assume it worked?
