this may be a little off topic but what is the equivalent of 195/60/15 tires in a 17 inch size?

For all your tire size comparison needs, look no further than Miata.net's Tire Calculator.

Oh yeah, please don't drag other people's threads into something nearly completely off-topic. You could've done much better by actually taking the time to search the forum for something such as "tire size". If your searches didn't reveal anything, you should've started up a new topic.

*Edit*
To answer your question... 205/45R17 is almost a perfect match to 195/60R15. Visit the Miata.net site anyway, you might learn something.
