ok, heres what i know..
goldie, the stock horn is located on the drivers side in the front, kinda like under the fuse box, pull the wheel liner off to get to it
those $30 kits from pepoys that include like two plastic horns and an electric "compressor" that hooks directly to the horns via clear plastic tubing arent worth it.. they sound like your in a freaking clown car.. hell, i have two of them lying around here, if anyone is interested, ill sell them cheap, like $5 plus shipping
the electric "compressor" is just a small air pump and turns on when you hit the switch.. yes, they are loud, but they sound like $hit..
big rigs also use compressed air, but they have a big air tank and an engine mounted compressor which pumps air when the pressure in the tank falls below a certain PSI level.. basically.. think of an air compressor used to run an impact wrench.. same sorta deal.. they have big/more expensive horns that are tuned to have a really deep growl and are usually $200 or more just for the horns.. but i think the real difference is caused by the sudden high pressure blast of air from the tank..
as far as i know, the big rigs also use the air for brakes and many trucks have an auxillary hose for filling up tires (or air matteresses, or pool rafts :P and the like)
so.. your biggest problems is going to be
1. cost.. expensive for a nice system
2. size.. its going to be alittle difficult to mount huge horns under your hood, and where to put the tank? the logical place is the trunk, but then you loost valuable cargo room
3. power to the compressor? im not sure if its possible to get a decent electric compressor that will work nicely with such a system, (im assuming you DONT want to hook it to your engine)
but, i would really like to see pics/audio clips of this system if you get it up and running, and if you are/were anywhere near me, id be happy to lend a hand in setting it up..
and on the plus side, you can always run the auxillary air hose out to fill up the tires or a kiddy pool
