Default transmission question`

hello everyone, i have a question, i just recently blew up the tranny in my 96 sl1. i am going to the junk yard to get a tranny and having the diff pin welded in by my friends dad.

will the trannys from the 92-95 models work, it looks the same but im not sure. i dont really want to pull a tranny in a junk yard just to get it home and it doesnt work. i tried searching, but all i find is people talking about auto-manual swaps, and the diff pin.

thanks for any input.

Edit: its a 5 speed. sohc.

the 92-98 MP2 transmission will work perfectly (out of any Sx1) the MP3 (the Sx2 trans) will also work, but its has different gearing than you have in your current car. If you go with any later model you will have to get an early model hydro system or just use the one off your car now, if you reuse your clutch. you could also go with the later model clutch and use the later model hydro system as well, but i wouldn't both.

thanks man, i will be buying a new clutch. mine is marred because the cluth fork came loose when the tranny exploded. and it has 120,000 miles on it.

i figured the clutch would have gone before the tranny.

now off to the junkyard. thanks again.

Woah, woah woah...

ANY YEAR 91-02 manual transmission will work. You won't have to swap anything out.

I'd reccommend getting an MP3. It will make the car a little more fun to drive and shouldn't really hurt gas mileage at all.
as a whole with hydro and clutch assembly, is the easiest way to explain

Robbery.

I paid $74.99 for my transmission cause I pulled it. They have half-price days, too.

I paid $150 shipped for my other transmission. For $200 they should have it cleaned, boxed, checked and ready to go.
