Default 2001 L-300 owners

Anyone own one of these that had an issue with the ignition? There was a recall somewhere around 2003 as I recall. I wasn't having issues but had it looked at, just in case. I was told it was fine but lately I'm having some problems. If it turns out to be the same, do you think it would be covered even though they cleared my car back then?

Ignition switch?
Ignition module (if 4 cylinder)?

What kind of problems are you having?

Default Module, I think

I like to drive it but I'm not incredibly mechanically inclined so tend to leave the details to my mechanic at the dealership. They mentioned the ignition module when they checked the car out a few years ago. I've never had any problems at all until the past couple of weeks. Now it's hard to start and the car seems sluggish like there's no power. Those were things they asked about before which is why I'm wondering if it's related.

I'll be having it looked at next week. I was just wondering if it would still be covered under the original recall if it turns out to be the same issue.

To repeat.

4 cylinder or 6 cylinder?
What kind of problems are you having? What is the car doing or not doing?

Default Sorry thought I answered

6 cylinder. As I said above, it's been difficult to start. It sometimes takes several tries to turn over. As to being sluggish, I guess it just feels like there is less power than before. I hope this is clear enough as I don't know any other way to put it. I am not mechanical at all.

Apparently I didn't read your last post carefully enough.

The hard starting could be a number of things all hard to confirm without being there and testing things. One thing to eliminate is the ignition module. The V-6's don't have an ignition module. They have ignition coils that are controlled by the PCM.
If you are not getting an SES light coming on then you may want to get some mechanical things checked. Depending on the mileage the fuel filter could be getting plugged but that would tend to show more on high fuel demand conditions rather than starting. The fuel pressure would be a thing to check. If it is low or slow to build or there is not enoguh fuel delivery then the pump could be weak. Filter would be replaced before conedming the pump.
Once again depending on the mileage the spark plugs may be worth checking /replacing.

If I think of any thing more i will post it.

Default Thanks for the ideas

Nope, there aren't any lights coming on. I printed your reply out to give to my mechanic as when I called to make an appointment, he seemed rather stumped as to why I am having issues. I probably didn't make myself clear enough to him either. Told ya, I like to drive them but I'm no good under the hood...lol.
