Default aftermarket belt tensioners Dayco

I was wondering if any of you have used aftermarket belt tension, in particular has anyone used the Dayco belt tensioner. I installed it and I'm unable to pull the belt over all the pulleys. How many miles did you go before your belt tensioner broke? THanks.

UPdate Dayco tensioners fit. Wasn't very difficult with two people.

Clarification on the statement above please. Are you saying your original factory tensioner is still okay and you have 160k? The worst part of replacing the belt is the fact that your hands and forearms start to swell up and the room for your arms and hands is very small. Next time I do this I'm going to try and get me a better wrench for the job or fabricate one.

humm.. i didnt have too many problems replacing mine, but i did take the wheel and fender liner off to get a hellva lot more leverage on the tensioner..

btw.. they sell a serpentine belt tool at pepboys..

its like $15 and comes with a few sockets and some crowfoot wrecnhes and an extension so u can do like 7 different types of cars i think..

i actually bought one and found it to be of little help...

the taking off the wheel and getting it from underneath worked like a champ

My tensioner had close to 200,000 miles on it before it died. I bought one from Advance auto parts I think, it was about $56 and it always squeled and the belt slipped the whole time it was on, got a used stock one for $10 and havent had any problems since.
