| Saturns are known to perform quite well in autocross! And here I thought it was a commonly known thing... Guess not!
Here's some links: Team scR (Lots of good information discussing multiple topics.) 6th Planet's One Lap Of America (Ok, so not quite autocross... But still racing.) Outer Ring Club

| I plan to Autocross mine also. I wanna get a little bit more work done to it (weight reduction, strut bar, performance work) before I 'unleash' my car to the world.

BFG kdw-2's rock my world. What size are your wheels? try to go small, it's better on the track and much cheaper for tires. i've got 17" anvils at the corners, not the most practical but I can't afford a 2nd set when I rarely race anyways. Pretty much any mods will put you in a street prepared class, just so you know. Mine has KDW's in the front, Parada-2's in the rear, H&R sport springs and a strut bar suspensionwise, which for my car lets me get oversteer pretty easily. I was supposed to have a performance motor, but my sig will tell you how that went if you care to look... |

| Asianman Ed, do you have any modifications to your car, or did you autorcross middle-of-the-pack also? I am new to AutoX also. I just want to see what I can do to get closer to my buddy's time in an STi.
So far the 3 modifications that seem to give the most benefit on AutoX is better tires, strut bars, and higher octane gas. And if your going high performance, a supercharger.

| total mods: intake, high flow muffler & no cat, suspension, strut bar, poly engine mounts, tires, fuel controller. But on the downside, I've got an automatic, and those huge heavy wheels. I've got a total of 3 races under my belt with the satty, and one with an 87' skylark lol. |

| yes you can! SPOCNE (Saturn Peroformance Owners Club - New England, www.spocne.org ) fielded a '94 SL2 in the Grassroots Motorsports $2004 challenge and finished about 25th out of about 80 at the event. Yeah, it was a mid-pack finish, but we beat some pretty exotic stuff with bigger engines but worse handling. Our mods were pretty tame: exhaust, bored TB, used race tires on sawtooth alloys, KYB struts, Eibach springs, and gutted interior.
One of our SPOCNE guys won the DSP class - in a first gen SL2 - in the New England Region SCCA for 2004, so it can be done!
Recommendation: install a better diff pin. The car died 'cause the diff pin launched and punched a fist-sized hole in the transmission housing. The tranny is probably the weakest link. LSD would help too, might as well add it while you're doing the diff pin. I was on the verge of purchasing a Phantom Grip...
