wondering how long of a belt i should get if i take off my ac?

Your parts store will know...tell them you have a Saturn without A/C...there should be a part number in the computer for it.

And while you are under the hood of your car, spin every accessory pulley, every idler, and the tensioner, to see that everything is okay.

I have seen guys install new belts due to noise, only to discover bearings that seized up on something belt driven.

Yup, and especially if you replace the tensioner it can put enough extra stress on things that were about to go out and cause them to fail.
