Default Big Problem? I think

Sup Saturnspot? I got a question for all of u. I was heading off to arroyoseco raceway yesterday and while on the highway my coolant warning light when on but the temperature gauge said it was fine. So what we did was stop on the side of the road to see what the problem was. We checked everything there wasn't a leak anywhere but one of the members said that my exhaust was spitting out water. So what we did was stop at an autozone and filled the radiator with about half a cup of coolant and took it easy the way back to cruces. We think its a sensor maybe a heat sensor. does anyone know what happened to my car or why it would act that way. And what is the business of the water in the exhaust

Whadup Talon...

Sorry to hear bout the situation you had the other day. I know that the engine coolant was hot when you stopped off at Autozone, but were you able to verify that the coolant was low. The reason why your temp gauge was reading ok was the ram air from the high speed of travel on the highway was keeping everything cool. But had you been in city stop and go traffic, you may have over heated. As far as water out of the exhaust. All exhaust will have a little water to a certain extent because that's a sign of your catalytic converter doing it's job. It breaks down the poisonous gases into carbon dioxide and water. However as long as it's not steam or thick white smoke, you need not worry. What year Sat do you have? and have you had that problem before? Holla back.....

Peace

hey david,

Yeah i have 97 sc2 and i have never had anything this big of a problem, the only other problem i had was a alternator blew at the tracks. I remember before we left to arroyoseco raceway near deming, nm, i checked everything coolant levels, transmission, oil , everthing. Do u think i should just take to autozone so that they could plug it up to computer and see if any sensors went off. Also when i was on the highway it was going around 3000-3500 rpm could that of been the problem. because when we were coming pack from deming, i was going under 3000 rpm. oh yeah its also automatic.

i am thinking of going somewhere so they can flush my radiator and figure out if the thermostat or if anything is pinching or clogged from keeping coolant and water flowing to the radiator. Hopefully its just needing a flush

take the normal route that u take to go to las cruces but take the exit that will take u to I-10, then take I-10 west towards deming, take exit 102 akela cross the bridge and it will take u to the raceway can't miss it has many billboards above the race way entrance

Sorry about the delay in response, If you take your car to AutoZone all they would be able to do for you is: see why the check engine is on if yours is on. But that's always a good start because some sensors may lead you to the problem. No taching around 3000-3500 shouldn't be a factor. Man I redline my Sat DAILY!!! and she runs like she just came off of the assembly line. I normally check my levels every week even though she don't leak anything, she drinks oil due to the high mileage but I can live with that. But has NEVER overheated. Do you have green or orange coolant in your system? With yours being 97 make sure that you have the orange (Dex Cool) coolant..... Definitely run on up to AZ to diagnos your system. Keep me posted on what you come up with

Peace

for some reason that isn't the problem any more. the gauge still goes up around half way it kind of sounds like something such as water is the exhaust. how do i get that object out.
