Default CAI's and winter

I kind of want to leave my CAI on for the winter, but is it ok to do that? Would the slush get on it and freeze, and then not thaw because the filter would never warm up?

About half of my filter sticks below the bumper.

It may freeze but u may want to worry about the snow melting on the filter then the water gettin sucked up into your engine. U got a bypass valve for your cai?

No, I didn't bother getting a bypass. I just don't think the snow would melt. I think it would freeze on there and not allow any air to pass.

U should mos def invest in a bypass valve then. But jus to be safe take off the cai part and make it a wai. u shouldn't be racing during the winter time anyways.

Investing in a bypass valve is a total waste of money unless you plan on completely submerging the filter.

This is true.

I say your filter will be fine. Leave it.

Well, considering a bypass valve doesn't work until the filter is completely submerged, it's pointless.

i was in virginia, the Blue Ridge Mountains, for a month this summer with my Saturn.

i have a CAI. never once during any of the monster summer rains did i have a problem with water or large puddles wilst driving like a madman.

ponds, lakes, creeks and rivers should be avoided at all costs

hehe.

you will be fine without the bypass.
