Default Car Clueless With a Few Questions

Hello,
As of today, I am a new owner of a '00 SL1, 60k, auto in great shape. I have a few questions. Sorry they may be pretty silly but I am car clueless.

Is it possible to get the car manual from saturn or anywhere else?

I only received one key for the car. Should I go to saturn to have a duplicate made or is there somewhere else with better prices?

I need to have an alarm system installed. Can anyone recommend one?

Car is power except for the windows. Is it possible to have the windows changed to power through saturn? I am guessing no but thought I would ask.

Any general tips/info to share about the '00 SL1?

Love this site. Thanks!!!

Welcome to the spot! No question is a silly question, but it is good practice to use the search button before posting questions (not referring to these, just future reference. ) I think you'll find this a friendly place!

I'd watch on e-bay, but ya might see what Saturn wants for it. I would expect it's still availible through the dealer, though it doesn't really tell any difficult to find info. Your money may be better spend in a Haynes/Chilton repair manual.

Wal-mart, hardware stores. I've had no trouble getting duplicates for my '99, I assume no big key changes in one year.

Shrug on both of those. Anyone else know or want to make a suggestion?

Don't spin the tires and your differential pin will last much longer. Change the oil regularly. You have a spin-off tranny filter, so change the tranny fluid when you're supposed to - it's as easy as changing the oil. Lastly, post some pix and show the car off to the rest of the spot!

ebay for the manual, any store for the key, recomend a viper alarm system.. dont trust the cheap junk, and make sure it has a warrenty..

yes to the power windows.. but you do wanna be working to pay saturn for the rest of your life right? its alot cheaper to get the parts and do it yourself.

its a sohc.. so its slow..

welcome to the spot..

Ah, yes, I just remembered. I recommend against an audiovox alarm system. Best Buy put one in my friend's car, and he couldn't open the trunk when he was standing right by it. He had to stand right by the driver's door for the remote to do ANYTHING.

Thank you both for answering. I jumped on eBay and bought an owners manual just now. Next stop Walmart for the dup. key and checking out the Viper alarms.

Thanks again!

Compustar alarms are awesome, but can tend to get pricy. I wanna get one by summer time, with pager and the whole works.

For power windows, go to an audio car shop, I have one near me that charges about 130 per window to make it power.

You need regulators, motors, switches, relays. Its not too too hard to do but its worth having someone else do it. Just find a shop and get some prices.

Love all this info from the group. My friend is taking me to a place with parts cars so we can grab a dome light and a couple little things like that. Guess it will be worth looking at doors while we are there.

Eddie you were right about it being on the slow side. But as long as I eventually get to destination, I will still be loving my little Saturn :0 )

Can anyone recommend a good shop in Houston, Texas for changing to power windows, installing alarm, etc?

Thanks again!!!
