$1,500 '96 SC1, white, base level options.

I got it from an older lady who bought the car new in '96, she took great care of it. And she even went as far as to only have the car serviced at the Saturn dealership. Everything on the car was stock, even the cassette deck. The paint was a little scraped in some spots, but the interior looked like new. The catch: The car needed new tires, and a couple sensors replaced. And it had high milage 154,xxx

Overall it has been a very good first car for me, and I am going to miss it when it's gone.

First '94 SC2 (red): Free, never did pay my grandpa for it, but it was a lemon, which I've pawned on a friend who's a member here...

Second '94 SC2: 600 dollars, came with a '96 SC2 parts car. It's original engine blew, and the previous owner had some shade-tree mechanic put an engine out of the '96 in it, and man was it a hack-job.

Things it needed:

Clutch
CTS
Rewiring of entire engine harness(almost, it was one of the crappiest installs I've ever seen)
Re-routing of the vacuum lines
Installation of the EVAP solenoid back on the block, instead of zip-tied to the heater lines
Cam cover leaks like a sieve
Serp belt baaaaad
alternator shot

I've replaced the alternator, changed the oil, transmission fluid(it's a manual), did a fuel injection flush, cleaned the TB, put Sea-Foam in the gas tank, rewired the engine harness correctly, put my Dunlop SP Sport FM901's off my SAAB and Saturn on it, cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes, and I think that's it.

lol I like how nobody who bought new is posting up what they spent

I think I paid 13k out the door which is a deal new, put less than 3k into it as well because it pays to do your work in house

I just got back from SPC Rally where we had a track day at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, and that car just kept getting faster and faster and faster... The best $1000 I've ever spent.

94 sl2 automatic with 159K on it $1000

It has a crack in the windshield under the wiper blades which goes across the whole windshield. Also there was no passenger side mirror. And a rusted out fog light attachment that was so bad you couldn't hook in a new light. The outside of the body is in pretty good condition. The color of it is an ugly purple that I so want to paint another color. The interior was horrible when I bought it. The last owner had **** all over the car, all random **** like he lived in the car. Clothing, plates with half eaten sandwiches on them, cans of food, open bags of pretzels, check books, bills, LOTS OF plastic bottles of water that were mostly half full, and some other ****. I have a large garbage bin that the city comes around with to pick it up with the garbage truck. I am not lying when I say I filled up 1/3 of the garbage bin.

When I bought it I had to replace the following mostly for safety reasons.

-All 4 tires
-All brake pads and rotors
-Battery and battery wires
-Cam gasket
-Serpentine belt
-All spark plugs wires, oil change
-Muffler tie down

Since then I have replaced the side mirror, fog light, timing chain and tensioner and pullies, all 4 motor mounts, wiper blades, and radiator fan and temp sensor for it.

Next thing to do is fix the windshield and clean out the EGR valve. The valve body needs replaced so it stops slam shifting in reverse but I can hold out on that for a wile. Oh an the A/c doesn't work.

I bought my '00 SL2 back on May 4, 2002. She only had 34,000 miles. I Paid $7,803.509 cash........
Which included the trade-in of my completely run into the ground '92 Toyota Corolla 4-door that had a little over 250,000 miles and barely ran. This was a fiar and reasonable prince then and I check it against a few different sources.

i paid 3150 for my 96 sl2 with 54k on it.

pro: first car, interior in good to excellent condition minus the driver side carpet.

cons: oil seems to be burning more ( currently at 1 1/8th quart every 2 months when i change the oil), and a paint job would not hurt. came with a stock audio system

conculsion: not to bad of a car but i will probelly be getting a scion tc or a celica in a year becuase if i leave to go places outside of my area the higher the mph the more it burns oil.

'92 SC2
so. anyway. bought for $2500 back in 2002
with 160K miles.

pro's. excellent interior, had AC, new engine, only had bout 30K on it. ran really well. had good rims and tires. no body damage. no smoking was allowed in it.

con's. it all started to fall apart. starter...battery, ball bearings, alternator, radiator, water pump, steering pump, brakes. starter again...omg the fuel pump. sensor after sensor. i think that covers it...
