| IDEA, manually lock out the saturn auto trannys.... hey guys, this was an idea from david over at pro power, after a considerabley long conversation its just a crazy enough idea that might work!
since my tahoes main job is to tow, a friend of mine whos a gm tranny epxert once took out my valve body, drilled it out for more line pressure, (ALWAYS tow in THIRD, no overdrive, ever) in 3rd gear, basically what he did is when my trucks in 3rd it locks the torque converter for towing so theres no slippage it DOES work, after it was done, about a year ago, if im not loaded and in third and feather the gas you can feel it locked up and instant response.
SO, davids idea was this...
i donate a couple of auto tragic trannys, we all know that many satty owners using boost like the auto tragics, well david has this concept idea to take a vue fly by wire controller, utilize it to lock down EACH GEAR manually, NO SLIPPAGE, now of course this would be for people looking for a racing tranny, but the way daves talking about using the fly by wire it can be turned on or off, dialed into to lock up when needed, etc.
personally i think hes on to something here.
all we have now is TWO choices, one, phantom grip (which by the way, we are working on releasing a MUCH cheaper version, all they are is a block of machined steel and a few springs, the machening costs are null, and the mark up , well, we all know what they cost.) we have a machinist friend out of work so all these ideas coupled with the new 6th planet performance shop opening has been flying around. the other is the QUAIFFE which is very costly.
anyone have any input on this custom tranny idea?

| Yeah, get a working version of a Quaife with the machined/attached ring on it for less than $1300 and you got a customer

| I love my quaife, but the one problem I see is that quaifes don't fit in automatics. So that might be a problem for you guys. Other than that sounds like you guys might be on to something Joey. But personally I'd rather slap through gears anyday, just more pleasure for me.

| Auto's don't have much of a place on draggers except bracket racing, and they have no place at all in auto x.
5 speed till I the day I can't drive one.
