Default new car cockroach infestation- help

Hey guys,

I just got here to FLorida and bought a 96 SL2 for $500 last night. The exterior is very clean but the interior is filthy to the tune of a cockroach infestation. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? It is like Joe's Apartment in there. A little unnerving when driving and you have to swat them off of your shoulder and legs. My girlfriend hasn't been in the car yet but will probably wreck if she's driving it like this. Thanks,

Rob

Are they the smaller roaches? You could get some roach bait or possible just fumigate(sp?) it

the biggest one I have seen is about 1 1/2" Most of the roaches are smaller than an inch. I have pulled out all of the rear upholstery but they are all over the car.

I'd pull out EVERYTHING... seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, maybe even the dashboard. Roaches don't just hang around, they're feeding off of something.

I have a clean tan carpet from a 96' SL2, tan, if you're interested.

+1 for stripping everything. Not sure I'd roach bomb it - not sure how much/long that stuff would linger, and I sure wouldn't want to breathe it over time.

I am heading over to homedepot to get a bunch of roach bait. I'll gut the rest of the interior over the next few days. I don't think I want to be in a confined space with roach bomb residue. All I need is a drivers seat and gauges to get to work and back. Any other suggestions or if anyone has ever dealt with this before are appreciated. Thanks,
Rob
