Default out with the old----in with the new

Well my car has been nickle-n-diming me for the last 8 months or so. Just recently the AC stopped working, and another brake caliper locked up, along with burning more oil blah blah... so today I went car shopping and here are my results.

Test Drive #1: 05 Ion Redline loaded (chili pepper red)
Results: I WANT IT! But unfortunately it will be quite the stretch on the pocketbook. so thats not gonna happen. Dad doesnt like the QC half doors, but I am paying for this car (I paid for my first one also) so that only factors in a small bit. The seats were oh so comfy, the engine, oh my so much more kick. the car is a demo so they offered me the Demo discount AND the GM employee discount (current promo for new cars) but it was still a bit high for me (21,600)

Test Drive #2: 05 Ion Sedan manual (Silver)
Results: I like the car, but dont like the feel of the transmission/shifter/clutch especially compared to the redline. Dad liked the 4-dr design.

Option #3: 05 Vue FWD 4M (Storm Grey)
Results: Have not driven one yet, but the dealer has several in stock with the sport plus and sport plus II package in multiple colors with the manual tranny (a must). The sport plus pkg gives me all the options I want )plus II adds the power sunroof a want too but like $585 more...maybe we'll see) and I get the cargo room which is somthing I really need. Plus dad gets his 4 doors. Base Price $17,630 sport plus pkg $715 (plus $1385 for power package which is part of the sport plus but not standard on the 4cyl manual) total sticker $19,730.... after discounts....$15,360 which is $4370 less than the base price!! (seeing it this way makes me think I might go for the sunroof... hmmmmm)!

So tomorrow I send my car back to stock... It will be a sad day to see her go along with the 4.5 years of work I have in her, but I am excited to have a new baby in the garage. I hope to have something new by mid week.

I don’t drive by either of the Saturn dealerships here in town often so that wont be a problem. heh. The only thing I am really excited about with the redline is the AWD V6 but I cant afford that right now, and yeh the body looks really nice, but I cant afford the extra for that either. Right now I have to go with what I can afford now what I want (otherwise I would be driving that Ion Redline already) heh.

I took my dad with me for a test drive in the redline I want yesterday and halfway through he turned to me and said "gee, if I (him) was ready to trade in my car now I think I would buy one of these!" I about lost it, that was the last thing I was expecting to hear from him. Last night we figured out what I can afford for payments and such so tomorrow I hope we can go take care of the technicalities and finalize it!

grats dude, my dad was happy when we saw a SS Monte Carlo for like 10k, then he test drove it and it threw him back in his seat and so he said no, and we paid like 8k more for my car lol.

sounds nice, and fully loaded aside from the 4 cyl. I'd rather have a loaded vehicle a couple years old than a new one bare bones. Glad you get to have both new & loaded!
