Default Question?

I bought a 2001 Saturn L200 6 months ago I have had a few minor problems with it the latest I cant figure out, When I take the Keys out of the ignition the doors use to unlock now they dont Ive checked the fuses, unless I'm looking at the wrong fuse <which is possible> I just have no idea and where I bought it is no help Any ideas? I thought maybe a relay fuse but of course they are a dealer part along with the break light that only works when it wants too. Thanks for any ideas.

Not that im doubting your mechanical ability, but since that famous saying says that :"the thing you think is most likely not the problem", its probably the fuses... now when you say check, did you get out a tester, or did you just look to see if one was melted, sometimes they arent always fubared looking, also did you check any lines (*not sure if what your talking about has many lines but) if it has any, they might be grounding out... i know its not much help, but Good luck bud.

Though it may be a little awkward to do this over the internet, you might ask if anyone lives in your area and can give the car a quick look. Some of the people on here are super nice and knowledgable. Might save you a service fee.

I do encourage safety though - if you arrange to meet with someone you don't know (online or not), it's probably good to have a friend around, just in case.

Check your owners manual. Look for programable automatic door locks. There will be a description of how to set them.

Just went out and tried what I was told to do and thank goodness it worked now only if the brake light problem was that simple Im glad I found this place, You guys love your Saturns and Im sure Im gonna love mine too

Just incase someone has the same problem as me and like me has no clue here's what I did:

Problem: Locks no longer unlock when keys are taken out of ignition

Solution: Turn car to on
Hold down unlock button until you hear the horn beep

Hooray! Now, you say the brake light only works sometimes? Is that all brake lights, just the 3rd brake light...?

Its the drivers side brake light, I think I may just have to replace the whole thing. It like it only gets connection sometimes. The turn signal works, the reverse light works, just the brake light and the running light works when it wants too.

Remove the offending bulb (it will come out with the socket), check and clean the arcing from the socket contacts. Tweak the contacts up a bit to give a stronger contact to the lense contacts. Also check and clean the lense contacts. You may need to replace the socket or the entire lense if a new socket will not fix it.
