Not sure what section this should go in, but how bad for the car is it if you redline in first gear alot in an automatic?

Make and Model of Car?

To answer your question.. I don't know..

But I have an SC1 Auto.. and when you have your foot all the way down.. it will go up to just about the redline before shifting.. I think its normal in the s series Autos

on a cold engine...bad.

at normal operating temperature you'll be fine. If all you're doing is hitting redline.

I would get it checked if it was more then taping redline for a few secs.

if you continue to drive like that expect your car to melt into a molten pile of plastic very soon Be careful redlining alot especially in a stock series car it can and will affect the life of your car greatly and we are talking by thousands of miles. It's ok to have a lead foot just watch yourself if you want to extend the life of your car is all im saying

That's true.

I don't know how many self proclaimed "tuners" have blue smoke coming from their car because they love to rev it up frequently.

I see many average drivers with the same cars and similar mileages, and they run perfectly.

You should take it easy on an auto transmission. It's not built to be floored on all the time.
