Question SC2 starting problems

I cannot get the starter to spin the engine fast enough using the ignition switch. I removed the neuteral safety switch wires and jumped the purple wire directy to the battery and the starter works great. When I connect everything back together the starter struggles and will not spin normally. Any suggestions?

Check your battery cables for corroded connections including the ground.

Default SC2 starting problems

Thanks, I had done that I cleaned the battery terminals the ground to the block and the ground on the left side near the fuse block/battery area. When I jumped the purple wire from the battery to one side of the neutral safety switch the starter spins fine.

What about the starter connections. You did say it turns over slow when you go through the normal routine? If the battery is good it would seem to be a defective starter or solenoid.

I had the starter in and out tried a new starter did the same thing. When I jump straight to the purple wire it spins perfect. When I try with the key it doesn't spin correctly.

Did you splice the neutral safety switch wires together(eliminate the switch) and then try the key start? What year is your car?

Thumbs up SC2 starting problems

After a large search I found the start relay under the dash cover, when I held the relay in my hand and tried starting the car the relay chattered. I checked the ground cluster under the drivers seat which is where the coil ground of the relay is supposed to be connected to and it was a good clean ground. So somewhere between the yellow/black wire for the ground on the relay coil and the black ground wire to the ground cluster it has a questionable connection. I spliced a wire to the yellow/black and to a ground point, the relay pulled in fine and the car starts fine, car is back on the road.
