| screwed by saturn... i have a 2001 SC and just had the valve body replaced among other things...the bill came to $1100...
the car has just over 50,000 miles on it and i am so disgusted that i had to have this work done on a car with only 50,000 miles....
i am not covered by the warranty so i asked saturn for some compensation and they flat out rejected me....
i also found service bulletins alerting dealers to transmission problems in saturn passenger cars for the years 1999-2004, but was told by a saturn area manager that these bulletins mean nothing...
i will never set foot in another saturn dealership/garage as the company is putting out shoddy cars and providing very poor customer relations...
does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to follow up with my request?
thanks... |

| Did they give you any idea about why they thought the parts failed? |

| odd, that kinda stuff doesn't happen that much, at least not that I hear about. I would PM ssicarman, who is a saturn tech that helps out some on here, and ask what he would advise you do next. Dunno if GM will help you out or not. IMO, it seems like Saturn's service isn't quite what it used to be since being absorbed into the rest of GM. |

| Dealerships ALWAYS charge more for service then that of a "local" mechanic.
Being that your no longer under warenty, I'd suggest asking around your friends and neighbors to find a good cheaper mechanic.

| Um, do the work yourself? Dont take it to the dealer because they overcharge by far? Take better care of your car?
The service bulletins are just like notices to the dealers about problems. They dont have to recall your car for them or anything.

| Damn that is messed up! Well here's an explanation of why they did not compensate you. First off I work at a dealership the only time they will "goodwill" the repair is if it's not too far after the warranty milage and date has expired. I'm talking within a week or within 1,000 miles. And as for a bulletin on the problem it is only a bulletin, NOT A RECALL. Bulletin's are for the dealership. Lets say you had the problem while your vehicle is under factory warranty. What the dealership does is 1. Test drive the vehicle. 2. Check for "bulletins" for this concern 3. Fix only what u have complained about and if the bulletin fixes it then they give you your car back. Sometimes they don't even fix the car and tell you to come back after a few miles so they can check it again. So basically all a bulletin does is allows dealerships to find the problem faster IF and only If you have a complaint about it. |
