| sw2 & civic I dont know if this is in the right place, but its here.Me & my brother were riding in mountians the other week,Iv got the Saturn,he's got the Civic.
I could beat him on take off & pull away from him on the uphills, mine has 124 hp,his like 105 or something. But the thing that amazes me the most is where I get 30 mpg average,he gets 39mpg.Kinda makes me want a 92 civic since more mpg was what I was really after.
But I still like my sw2. |

| you could get a civic hybrid and show em all!
my buddy's got 58 last time we checked and 61 highway on our trip to norf joisee. that's pretty pimped.
note: i got like 36 highway in my sl2, i guess it all depends on how you drive, whether you use A/C and all that jazz.
peace out, -goldie |

| on the highway you do not lose gas mileage with AC (if you do its like .5-.7) It only affects you in the city. Because i personally got 41 with ac on going to Missouri. |

| Well,we got to keep in mind that his car was only 2300 bucks.I think it got about the best mpg in its time xept for the 3 silly-n-der metro.
Mine gets better on hiway.I went 120 miles hiway, then another 50 in Macon,Ga.,in traffic with inlaws, that was an xtra 300-350 pounds and it got 36.5mpg.I'm just sayin when we drive to/back workthru town n stuff.
Straight hiway I think mine gets 37-38.
One questionthough,I have a 5 speed. If I'm goin down the road @50 miles a hour, when I let off the gas peddle and downshift, does it burn more gas since the engine is at a higher RPM?Or does it not since the gas peddle aint bein pushed? |

| if you are just maintaining a speed, lower rpm is better for gas economy (unless its so low that the engine starts to hesitate). |

| I'm askin about downshiftin.Shift to 4th and slow down, then shift to 3rd and slow some more, then 2nd,and 1st.In other words, use the engine and trans. to help slow down.Every time you downshift the RPMs get higher but no gas is given.
Sorry if that confusing, but I dont know how else to xplain it.
OK,here is another way to ask it.Does it burn as much gas to enginebreak as it does to speed up? |

| Ah, engine braking. I do that. Not sure if it uses up gas - don't think so, since the throttle is closed. |

| I'm glad we got that cleared up.
Its funny how someone can understand one word(enginebreakin),better than a whole paragraph trying to xplain it.
Thanks |
