Default temperature sensor

Anyone know of how to test a temperature sensor on a L200? I have the book for the s series so if it is the same I am OK. Also what is the proceedure for changing the thermostat. The car doesn't seem as if it is making enough heat. Thanx in advance.

Testing a temp sensor....You will need a voltmeter and using the ohms setting check the resistance and check in the book to see if the sensor is in the correct range. You may have to remove the sensor if it is too hard to get to test it on the engine. Place the voltmeter test leads onto the connector ends of the sensor itself. The wires will have to be removed from the sensor.

On the thermostat (if you have the 1.9L engine)..Its pretty simple: Remove the coolant ( flush system and replace coolant if needed), remove lower radiator hose, take off lower radiator hose neck thermostat comes out with the neck, use special tool (which is a round piece of cardboard) to remove and replace the thermostat, reverse steps on putting the thermostat/neck and hose back on.

It's an L200 - it either has the 2.2L ecotec or the 3.0L saab-based V6.

This is probably a question best asked in the "technical" section, so ssicarman or others with more technical expertise can address the question. I don't even know if the 2.2 or 3.0L use a thermistor temperature sensor like the S-series.

You might consider spending $15 on a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your L-series.

Just got the car last week and haven't had time to look for a manual. It has a 2.2 twin cam. I didn't relize that it was an ecotec. The sensor is easy to get a, I just need to find out the parameters. I'll post the same question in the technical site. Thanx.

People with more technical expertise? I told him the correct correct way to do both procedures..just didnt know if he/she had the 1.9l or not.

That's cool, but I didn't/dont' even know if the ecotec uses the same type of sensor. It being an L-series, it definately does not have the 1.9L. Not trying to put you down or anything.
