| Tires Plus road hazard and lifetime balance When I bought my Saturn's tires, I was talked into a pass perf pkg & lifetime balance for and additional $17.99 per tire. The sales pitch was if my tire ever went flat or needed balancing, it would be free. I got a nail in my tire, fixed it myself with a plug. Got another nail and took it in to Tires Plus at 6221 Powerline Rd in Pompano. Jesse Russell told me the tire did not leak, I told him he could patch my repair properly. He said the warranty only covers punctures and the plug did not cause the puncture. He said I had to pay for the patch. I said he should at least balance the tire. He also refused to balance the tire and it was clearly stated on my original receipt "lifetime wheel balancing". The puncture repair I got verbal. Has anybody else had Tires Plus refuse to honor their "Pass Perf Pkg & Lifetime Bal" or is it just me and this Sales Associate?
Are road Hazard plans worth the money? |

| My dad went to Wal-Mart for tires.
They have replaced his damaged tires without any arguement.
With my dad's hideous luck, he has needed to get hazard replacements like 4x already. We are betting that Wal-Mart hazzard replacements will be on his car until it dies.

| It's nice to have, and can pay for itself. It sounds like you can do some of it yourself, though, so the value would be less. I think it's worth it if it's from a reputable company. Sounds like this place is ripping you off - either take your complaint higher up, or take your business elsewhere. Or both. |

| Definately, road hazard warranty is a must have. ESPECIALLY if you have performance tires which can run you $75 or more a pop. Yeah, it does sound like the place you went to is trying to pull a fast one, so I would go over their heads. I got my Hankook Ventus tires from Pep Boys and I was gonna pass on it, but something said do it...luck for me I did. Drove through an area where they had an accident and didn't clean up everything...

Its just like getting a warranty on a car. its well worth it when something goes wrong.

| I think it's a lot more worth it on tires than the car. A lot of car stuff that commonly goes wrong is not terribly difficult to DIY, but a lot of tire stuff requires special equipment. Balancing for example. When I got my tires, I had them do an alignment, too. Pretty sure it was a lifetime alignment (Sears). Sometimes it's nice to do stuff like that with bigger businesses, cuz they're easier to hold accountable, and more likely to be around if you move.
Warranties are like insurance - it's always a gamble, but some are better odds than others. More likely to run over a nail than have the car blow up (assuming one treats their car well). |

| Yeah, I agree with getting tire warranties - you never know where someone has dropped some sharp object (like a nail, piece of glass, or their entire muffler ).
I just don't go for whole car warranties. I got a thing in the mail today, in fact, trying to sell me a year warranting on my '99 for $200. If something breaks, I'll fix it. If the engine blows up, I'll put in a DOHC. The car is darn reliable, and it's doubtful that anything that a warranty would cover is gonna break and be worth more than $200. Now if it covered gasoline.... |

| ^^Right, when I got my Sattie, I also got a 2 year warranty. Needless to say absolutely nothing(other than brakes and rotors) went wrong with the car. I just have a stash on the side incase something major cracks or explodes.
