your ecotec vue has it's filter in the same spot as all other ecotecs. open the hood and look at the intake manifold, directly to the right of that and slightly under it is the canister the filter is housed in. the intake manifold will have a small notch in it directly above the filter housing.

the housing is silver and will have a large black cap on it, a 1 1/4 socket short socket works well to remove it. the ecotec uses a cartridge type filter (think like the current USA/japan stuff but without the outer shell), this design is very common on German engines. fitting since the ecotec was partially German designed.

filters: fram# ch9018, and i can't remember the purolator number right now. i just buy the saturn filters, they are cost less.

Never, EVER EVER buy a Fram filter. All their filters are junk, air, oil yada yada. a quick search of saturnspot or the internet will turn up many scientific and real-world tests of their product and they detemined they almost dont do anything!

When I had my SL2 I prefered Purolator PureOne. Now that I have the Ecotec engine, I prefer factory. I got one from Advanced auto, dont remember the brand, but compared to factory it felt very weak and alot cheaper, yet it was more expensive. I buy oil filters online from www.saturnaccessories.com or www.saturnparts.com
