Default Lowering SC2 Project

I was wondering if you guys had any experience with lowering Saturn's? I am considering buying some Eibach springs soon, and have never worked on that part of the car before.

I have the tools and can get a spring compressor from a guy at work. I just don't have that many options as to where I can work on it right now. I could do it at my parents house in MI, but I always have lots to do in a short amount of time when I visit. Or I could go to the auto shop at WPAFB.

I don't know, do you think that this is a good modification to make? And how long does it normally take?

man, we have sooo much expierience doing that it's rediculous!!!! It's a great mod to do. Not only does it give your ride a much more commanding look, your handling will dramaticly increase. Couple that mod with some nice tires, front strut, and beefy rear sway and your in serious business. We can do a side in about 25-30min. If we're being lazy and drinkin' a few while were doin' it.

I just got pretty good tires 8 months ago. And my car came with a sway bar in the back. I am torn on if I should get a sway bar for the front.

How important is it to get it professionally aligned? My old roommate never aligned his car, and while it went through the tires in about 1/2 the time, it was still drivable. Could we try and guess at the alignment? I have my car repair book and it goes through the adjustments. I am going back to Michigan on Sept. 2nd, and could get it aligned for $40 up there.

I found a good price for them on eBay, so would you guys be up for it next weekend? I'll bring some pizza and a 12-pack.

I went ahead and installed the springs on Sunday, and everything is great. The car looks so much better. Overall, it lowered it by 1.5" But the wheel gap in the front went from 3.5" to 1.75 and in the back it went from 4" to 2.5"

It took me 5 hours working in a shop with air tools, and everything else I needed.

The springs cost $186 + $40 shipping + $11 garage fee + $40 alignment. Not too bad.

I also noticed that I can take corners much faster, and there is a lot less roll in the car.
