Anyone interested in Auto-Crossing??

I am going to start autocrossing this year (have already missed the first event

) All of the local events are held at Fed Ex Field and entry fees are around $20 for non-SCCA folks, $15 for members.

If anyone is serious about learning to drive better, I would recommend it. There is a Novice class for first year folks and I think it would be a great time. And hell, how cool would it be to have Saturn make a strong local showing? You get to spend the day checking out all of the other cool cars in all the different categories and then when it's you turn, you hop behind the wheel of your Sattie and let 'er rip!!

The next event is June 1st. You can check out the DC regional chapter of the SCCA for more details. AutoCrossing is listed as Solo II racing.

Hells Yeah, dude. We definitely need to make a big showing at an event like this. THis is just what we need for a real quality meet. Thanks for the info Josh. Anyone who is interested feel free to chime in

Good point Ray! Rather than spending all of our meets spending money on food and drinks, we can put that $20 to actual racing! We woudl have PLENTY of free time while watching the other cars to chit-chat and then we all put our cars, and our driving ability up for show. So, who's up for meeting June 1st at Fed Ex Field?

Damn Man, I would love to do that...but I will be just getting back from FL on the 31st, and I start my new job on the 2nd, so I will probably be pre occupied with other stuff.

No Auto-Xing for me. I hate it. I went about 4-5 times when the SCCA used to use Fort Meade. It just wasn't for me. Cones suck.

DAMN IT!!!! i didnt regester fast enough.... im still goin though. what time and where are we all gonna meet up there... also whos goin i dont think many people in our group know about this event

OK, here's the deal. Apparently these events are HUGE in this area now. This particular event filled up (253 cars!) in less then 12 hours from the opening of registration. So, there is not a snowball's chance in hell of participating in the event. However, I did get the low-down on how this works.

Registration opens the Sunday 3 weeks prior to the event at 8pm. That SHOULD mean that it opens at 8pm on June 1st. It looks like I will be waiting for that one and registering on the 1st.

Sorry about not fully investigating all of this beforehand guys. I have never auto-crossed before and didn't realize how big of a deal there is about it in the area.

I'll keep my eyes out a little better and keep everyone informed.
