| Problem ..................any ideas? OK my moms 99sl2 pretty much became mine a like aday ago. i already slamed it (couldnt help my self) any way before i slamed it it had a little shke on acceleration. AFFTER i slamed it it got worse. Also before i slamed it the alighn ment was WAYYYYYY off. now the car drives as straigh as an arrow.
any input would be great. but id like to find out what this could be before i spend the money to have saturn look at it. as this will be my daily driver and its has 120k miles on it. i already know the trani is going. (damn automatics) and it been going for a long time now and long before the shakes.
yeah so any ideas would be great. this is gunna drive me batty.
THanx

also one thing i forgot to mention was its makin a little noise and i dont know how ti descripe it. Kind a sounds like the right front wheel bearring is going out.
Guess ill just let saturn check it out some time down the road.

| the shake i beleive has something to do with the geometry of the half-shafts. i don't want to ruin the handling of my car be dropping it (one of the resons i didn't drop mine and sold my coil-overs to some unsuspecting fool.
your wheel bearing may be going out though... or possibly your CV joints.
i'd recommend replacing all those parts. use OEM cv joints and SPS's tapered wheel bearings. |

| the cv joints would be ****ty b/c i dont imagine them beeing cheep. i reeeaaalllyl dont wanna know what oem cv's cost. i might just say screwit all and buy a honda.
and actually the coilovers dont ride bad at all. i mean its a little bouncey and you feel all the bumps but, im tuckin tire on 15's so and it still handles pretty friggin good.

| and i might just say screw it and beat you to death with a 9-iron.
CV joints aren't that expensive. they are actually like $19 each. but it's much easier to buy the whole halfshaft which runs about... $89 each.
you can tell a cv joint becaust it's usually quiet until you start to turn, then it goes click-click-click-click-click.
if it's not doing that it's probably just the wheel bearings...
and don't buy a honda...
buy my tercel. if i weren't so oposed to jap cars, i'd swap in the $age motor out of the celica GTS (bolt in swap) and keep that fugger stock looking and junky on the outside (it's actually in good shape, new paint 2 years ago.)
i just haven't got around to doing anything with it... i'm still trying to get the title from the last owner. |
