Alright, let us all be entirely honest with each other here. We all aren't loaded to the teeth with money, and some of us have to or may even LIKE TO buy our cars used.
Personally, I will buy either new or used, depending on how good of a deal I can get. How do the rest of you feel about used cars, and are you turned off at the prospect of buying them? |

The price of a new car is outrageous these days, no matter what brand or model, so that is one factor. I hate basically losing value the second I drive the car off the lot. If you stick to a reputable dealer, you can get excellent warranties with a a low mileage used car these days and it saves a lot of money up front.

I was always told to never buy new since once you drive it off the lot the value plummets into a downward spiral. Of the vehicles we have had since we were married let me see here, the only one that was "newish" is the current one. A 07 Pontiac Gran Prix. We ended up trading in our Chevy Tahoe (01) for this car, and the last owner of it had traded it into the dealership about a week before we got there. He ended up getting a Tahoe (not ours) and we got his 3 month old car for about 4k off the retail price. Anything before that was within afew years old since we are both against getting brand spanking new, but with the car we really did not want to pass up such a deal, so we broke the rules just once.

I prefer used after the one new car I bought having more issues than anything used. Granted the brand wasn't the best to start with, but it still had more problems than a new car with 5miles should have had. I like my used as I've saved more than 40% off blue book on the past two I purchased.

It is truly a riot that you can get a NEARLY brand new used car for a 3rd less to even a HALF less what it would go for new!
I mean seriously, car prices decrease a ton from the second you drive it off that car lot. Occasionally I will see a really good new on a new car, but more often than not...Used is a far better deal. |

I find it a little odd when someone can run across a good deal and then others just think you always buy brand new. Its almost a shock when I tell people it wasnt my first choice. When we decided to do the trade in we had been to maybe seven other places before hand?
