I've taken all appropriate pieces off, and the three bolts holding the hub assy to the spindle. I've tapped the front CV shaft loose from the hub, but I cannot remove the assy from the spindle. Do I need a special tool, or do I just need a bigger hammer?
WP EDIT: OK, so while waiting for a reply, I looked at the new assy. The only reason I am changing the hub was because of an ABS sensor fault. So, removed the old sensor, put in the new sensor off the new hub, and cablamo, problem solved. I wish I would'a known that the sensor was removable, the dealer told me I needed the assy. Looks like I got a CDN$400 paper weight now....LOL Last edited by wirepuller; 09-01-2007 at 09:00 PM. |

Save your paper weight. Sooner or later the wheel bearing will fail. Then you will have the "pleasure" of having to pull the bearing out. We are now doing some of the first year car (and later) cars that the bearing has corroded into the knuckle. The worse ones involve having to remove the knuckle so that the bearing assembly gets pressed out. So far the 25 ton press has managed them but the really bad ones (execpt one car) are about all that the press will manage.
We have had one eastern rust belt one where the axles were rusted into the bearings which were seized in the knuckle. Ended up that the knuckle, axles and bearings had to be replaced.
