Talking 2.2L Ecotec misfire

2006 vue 2.2L misfire at a cold start but only will misfire for about 20 seconds and then it will run fine. A couple things I have noticed it is losing a little coolant over time and when you start it the exhaust smells like coolant. Any idea what could be wrong. Thanks

Do me a favor and stop by the New Member section, and introduce yourself please. While youre at it, go to the User CP at the top, and make a signature with your name and ride.

Any smoke from the exhaust? sounds like a head gasket to me.

Sorry about that i am new at this. The car only has 116K on it. The exhaust is not smoking it just smells like coolant it has your normal cold start exhaust but after it warms up it goes away. i understand there is coolant that goes through the intake manifold could it possible be a bad intake gasket?

Yes it is that sweet smell of coolant. Here is what i have done. pulled the intake off and replaced the gaskets and still have a problem. Last night i took it apart all the way down to taking the hormatic balancer off to and the side plate to expose the timing gear's and chain but before i do that i am going to buy a Haynes manual because the timing chian is why above my head. Do you think i am on the right track? Thanks

That is probably a little deeper then you needed to go.
Im at a loss right now, but I will do some research in a bit. Or maybe Rj can chime in, he knows quite a bit more then I do.

so, doing some more research, it looks like its pointing to the head gasket about to go. The smoke wont start til it 100 percent needed.
Unless the smell is not actually coming from the exhaust, but burning under the car somewhere.
