Default Help with car's weird break down?!

Hi. I own a 2002 series. I am lost about what to do. Let me tell you about what happened... Last Monday I came home & as I pulled up into my driveway the car cut off. I turned the car off then tried to turn back on but all the dash lights & radio just flashed on & off several times. I turned it off then tried on again & it starts right up. Skip to Friday without any problems & I am sitting at the drive thru at the bank & the car cuts off. Try to start it & radio & dash lights flash again like before.Try to turn back on & nothing but security light flashes. As I keep trying to start it the only light that will come on is security then I hear a pretty annoying buzzing sound coming from the radio/ac control area & this noise continues even without the key in the car. So I sit, waiting for a jump without key in car, buzzing sound continues, & I hear a single ding from the door. I pushed the hazard lights on & the buzzing stops. Then I hear the ding again. Try to start the car & still only security light. Hook up jumper cables & nothing happens. Push the car out of the way. Tow truck comes & hooks up their portable battery & as soon as he does that, the lights come on & the car starts right up! My husband just replaced the water pump in the car if that helps with anything. Any ideas what is going on with this thing? I am low on funds so if you know a price range I am looking at, that would help too :/

Sounds like either your battery, the terminals, or a bad ground somewhere. Take the battery to your local auto shop and they should be able to test it for free.
My Redline did that, and it was the battery freaking out after the recall work.

Battery & alternator tested fine. Someone told us it could be a bad main relay or bad ignition switch. Could those cause something like this? Also, now the airbag light is on & will not go off. I am starting to get worried that this is going to be a costly fix.

It could be the ignition or the relay. Could also be a bad crank position sensor.
and the airbag, I just did a quick search and that could be 1 of 100 different things.

Cut back a half inch of the positive battery cable and see if it has turned the dreaded blue/green, if so replace.

I have never even heard of that. Interesting. I will keep that in mind.

One more quick question. If there was something wrong with the battery, would the clock go off? Even when the car "broke down" the clock has always stayed on. Thanks for the suggestions. My husband comes home Friday so I will show him this post.

Probably so. It not it is a BCM issue, which that can be costly. Rj would probably have a better answer for you then me.
