Default Starter issue?

Hi. I have a 2007 Aura that I maintain well and keep in a garage (both at home and at work). This week, I've had two episodes in which, when I turned the key to start the car in the morning, the dashboard would "come to life" but nothing happened with the engine--very similar to dead battery. I would try starting the engine 3-4 times, nothing. Then, when I'm about to give up, voila. It starts. Any ideas. The care runs fine once it starts. Not sure if it's the starter, alternator, battery, or what. Also not should I tell the service people when I take it in--knowing my luck they won't be able to replicate the problem. I greatly appreciate any advice or insight the forum might have on this.

Most likely the starter is going bad. How many miles are on the car? If it is the starter, it will get progressively worse.

Thanks for the reply.

The car has just over 40,000 miles on it.

I would look at the battery first. Check the cables for tightness, corrosion.
