And here we go. Some improvement.
FE5 shocks and struts on all 4 corners with SSC springs.

And derf, here are some pictures for yuh

Rear sway bar from the back:

From the side:

Shocks and Springs:

I am going to get a full car photo tomorrow of the drop. It really straightened the body up.
And I must say, those shocks and struts DEFINITLEY make a HUGE difference!!!

Nice. Nice indeed.

Ok here come some bonehead questions as I know nothing about stock or modified ion suspensions.

1) How is the rear sway bar attached? In the photos it didn't seem to be attached to the frame cross member it ran along and didn't seem to be connected to the wheel hubs either. I'm obviously missing something (most likely common sense.)

2) Were the ions set up at the factory with just a spring under what would be the strut tower (in the rear) and an old fashioned shock mounted behind it? The angle of that shock seems odd if there is no strut inside the coil spring. There's something sticking out -- maybe a bump stop? Did you edit the pic?

Oh, and to make it clear, I don't know jack about lowering cars (obviously).

You see in the picture, the piece of frame that the spring and shock attaches to? The hub is attached to that, and on the bottom there is two holes, that came stock, and you slide a backing in there, line up the sway bar, and bolt it down like that.

And the strut is next to the spring. That is a bump stop, 1 on top, and 1 on bottom.
If you unbolt the bottom bolt of the strut on each side, you just pull the rear down and the rear springs fall out.

I hope this cleared it up a bit. Its 1 am, and I just got off a 14 hour shift, so im a bit tired and non functioning.

Ill try to take better pictures next time I work under the car. This is the first time ive lowered a car, so I don't know much either.

Hi derfderf,

Thanks for responding. I'm glad to "hear" a familiar "voice".

For a minute there, I felt as if I was in a Twilight Zone episode where I was the only person left, here. lol

I was out of town during the holidays but will be around more (except a couple weeks during February). I'll make it a point to check in.

Good to hear from yuh, Jerry!

Nope, like derf said, we are working on it. Feel free to troll whatever you would like to bring some threads back to life. I know you guys are more familiar with the S-series, so will probably feel more comfortable doing that, like I will with the Ion, and maybe the Vue section.

And derf, I am a bit more awake now. See in the first picture how the bar goes under the springs? That's wear the rear end/frame bends to so the spring sits on top of that. My next day off I will probably have the car on stands again, so ill try to take a closer pictures.
