I agree. I will likely be getting it replaced this coming weekend... The others should hold through the winter. Should. May end up replacing all of them before winter, though. Just to be sure.

An awful idea just popped into my head and I nearly slapped myself for it... Swapping a more powerful engine. Seriously. My brain sometimes likes to go for adventures lol.

sc2sick knows his stuff. He is def the person to talk to on this topic.

I was intimidated, too. As to why I bought a redline over an le5...And after doing MORE research, and seeing how simple things really are, I ALMOST wish I would've found an le5 sedan. But hey, I love my redline. Even if she is PMSing 24/7.

Been giving it a lot of thought... And I think I might just keep my old gal non-turbo'd. I think it might be biting off more than I can chew. For now, anyways... (Maybe I'll look into getting another satty once I have some room to store it.)

I think I will still give her all of the nice upgrades to keep her purring smoothly for another 200k plus miles.

Nothing wrong with that.
They are great cars.
Could do basics, suspension, wheels, etc just to start.

Replaced the motor mount.
Only to have my exhaust break loose this week. I knew she was rusty, but I was hopeful that it would last through winter. Damn it. Looks like I will be making that purchase a little sooner than I had hoped. Or... I just weld (not me, actually.. dunno how to do that) a new flex pipe in for the winter and start ordering the exhaust system. Speaking of which... Any suggestions/tips on what I should order if I am looking for a decent ricer-ish sound? (I like the sound... can't explain it.)

Perhaps ricer sound isn't the description I am looking for... I just don't want stock sound. I have heard some really nice, deep notes coming from 4-cyl cars. Just wondering how to replicate that.

I've read that swapping sohc to dohc may have an effect on the sound of the exhaust notes... and adding a turbo will also have an effect? But at this point, I have had my brain rattled for almost two weeks with the exhaust having come disconnected directly underneath my feet.

Been trying to read up on different things. But half of the things that I read contradict the other half of the things that I read.

Muffler delete, replace with resonator? IDFK.

I believe you have emissions in Michigan.
Not sure what aftermarket exhausts are out for s cars, but look into that before just chopping it up please.

Emissions enforcement throughout Michigan is very sporadic. In Grand Rapids, they do not require emissions testing. But, I know in Detroit they require testing, and in the SW portion of the state (towards Chicago) they require it.

I would still keep the catalytic converter in the exhaust line. I would just remove the muffler and replace with a resonator in favor of reducing weight a bit and producing a slightly different sound.

Either way, I intend on talking with my mechanic about it before I make any purchases/orders.
